My topic is Do mouthguards prevent or lessen the severity of concussions?
Hypotheses:
1. The thicker the mouthguard then the severity of the concussion will decrease.
2. As the level of compliance increases then the chance of sustaining a concussion decreases.
3. The greater the impact then the more severe the concussion.
Possible Answers:
-The thickness of the mouthguard will decrease the severity of the concussion because the thickness will be able to absorb most of the impact instead of letting the force go straight to the brain.
-If athletes use a mouthguard everytime they participate, it will not necessarily decrease the severity of a concussion, but might decrease the chance of getting one.
-The type of impact and force of the impact play an important role in concussions. The bigger the hit, the bigger concussion you will get.
